Afraid my Little Owls have not bred this year so her is on from last season, not the best perch I know, think this little chap must have been exploring a rusty pipe or something ,bred in a shed full of all sorts of junk .

Hi Keith, the perch isn't great, but this has been covered many times before, so no need to rehash.

The angle puts a quirky perspective on the comp, and I'm 50/50 as to whether you should just level it and then add canvas/background which in this instance is so easy, so lucky to have a backdrop like this. Nice, cute & fluffy juvenile and still of an age of learning and before self preservation kicks in. Not sure how easy it would have been to elevate yourself up a few more inches to show those lovely 'ice pick' talons, but it would have been nice to see the feet. Squeaking a bit more DoF & SS would I feel have helped, but you know that now.

Personally I would prefer to see an extender on so there is more distance between you and the subject, but that's just me as you know . Hope the Kestrels are doing OK.

Hi Keith, you guys are killing me with all these Owl images - why - because I dont have much to show in the way of Owl images in my files. I really like the detail on the plumage, together with the soft light. Thats a great smooth clean BG too. You may have already, but I would try and lighten his right eye ( left as you view it ) No doubt the 'perch' was slanting, but maybe a touch off the bottom.
