This is an earlier morning capture of a different YCNH from this past Friday at the YCNH & BCNH Rookery. The sun having just risen to full strength on top of this cedar tree looked like a good perch for the YCNH. C&C welcome.

Removed some distracting branches with Cs6.

Could be deep in thought ,bird fits nicely on to that green scene, like the couple of out of place feathers and that orange eye ,very nice shot.

Hi Geoffrey, sweet light here, and I do like the feather detail you have brought out. I like your comp, and since you stated you have removed some 'distracting' branches, I would have maybe cleaned up the OOF stuff around the feet.

Very nice Geoffrey. I like the colours throughout. Bird has lovely detail and the perch goes so well with the BG

    Beautiful light on this one.
    Great BG and perch.
I agree with Stu re: cleaning up the OOF stuff around the feet but not a deal breaker.
    Very nice!

Wow great light here! Tasteful sharpening looking just right. Perfect pose for the vertical composition and a great view of the back feathers. Yes to cleaning up the darker oof stuff near the feet....and for a cleaner finish at the left edge I'd also remove the small bits of vegetation peeking in at LLC. Really strong image, well done.

Beautiful light -- shows the benefit of getting up at 3:00 AM. I also like the out-of-place feathers, and the curiously upright stance for a Night-Heron -- acting more like a penguin. I'd be tempted to crop a bit off the bottom which would take care of some of the oof foliage. Good one.

I agree, I like everything also but as mentioned a bit of a head turn would have put this one over-the-top. Nice work.
