I captured this image at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. Maybe unconventional but I like the image. The different types of feathers, the layering of the feathers, the tones and colors of the feathers, all appeal to me. This is one of two cranes that walked up and kind of just hung out with us for a while, feeling at ease enough for this one to begin preening. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Hi Joseph, I like the details of the feathers and the light, but have to say the composition isn't working for me. But let the others say. Loi

Hi Joe, yes the detail is good, but think I'm in agreement with the others about composition, sometimes it can happen that we see things that look good, but may not always come through in the image sadly, but always worth the punt. Looks like he/she is in moulting mode and a bit wet, so perhaps this doesn't show the subject off in the best of light??? I might pull back the Green just to soften things, but personal choice.

Hi Joe, excellent feather detail, and I like the colours on the face with that yellow eye. Comp wise, taking a bit more off the bottom may work, but having a full body shot showing off all those beautiful feathers would work too.

Hi Joe - really nice fine detail. Good suggestions above about color of bg and comp. It's always good to experiment a bit with comp, especially with behavioral images so good for you for trying something a bit different.

    Rachel
