I am envious of this fabulous head shot! Fantastic feather details and I agree with Jackie that the lighter blurred bkgd is perfect for this black colored bird. I also like that the bkgd is mottled, with darker colors in the corners, creating a bit of a vignette that keeps all the visual attention on the bird. Well done!

The oil paint effect is very effective on this one. Do you remember where in Costa Rica you took this. I am going on a birding trip to Costa Rica next winter, so this is definitely whetting my appetite!!
