One will achieve fairly good results with any subject against a Pilanesberg BG, and in early morning light. You just have to position yourself to the have the subject against a non sky BG, and the rest is up to you.

Hi Stu, a sweet image indeed and that eye really pops nicely. Nice HA, and I like the almost 'cascading/interlocking' plumage, all set against a lovely diffused BKG. Nice texts too, good to have the light.

Hi Stu, this is awesome. I like the HA and eye contact, the super BG (as always) and the details. The perch is nice too. Well done.
    Cheers,

As Freddie Mercury would have said, "a little bit of magic". Your early starts always pay off, the pose and details are absolutely superb.

Like everything about this Stuart, in fact it would be extremely difficult to find anything to dislike, excellent.

Beautiful clean image design with great light and background. The layered feathers really add a lot. Very pleasing.

Late to the party....but just had to contribute to the chorus! Beautiful eye contract, HA and stunning feathers! Background nicely controlled and a pleasing perch! Well done!

For me, I often think the sign of an impressive shot is when a 'regular' subject like a dove (as opposed to something naturally stunning like an eagle) gets so much attention in a short space of time.

This is a perfect example, and is what I'd describe as a 'photographers shot' where the light, the head angle, the detail on the plumage and all the other positive features combine to make you forget that you're 'just looking at a dove'

Hope that makes sense - it does in my little head!

    Mike

Simple, sweet and neat image, Stuart Sir.
Love the layered feathers on look back pose and composition.

Looked at this on my phone a few days ago but now that I'm sitting at home on my 5K monitor I had to comment on how nice this one looks Stu. The HA, the nice perch, the great looking BG, and the killer details all make for a great frame but the raised feathers really makes this one a rock star!!!
    Very nice.

Stu, wonderful image and light, colours. Mate, just spectacular. IMO though you have a little too much negative space to the right.
I'll answer your PM a bit later, thanks for sending it.
