Default Homeless in B&W plus a little color

I was processing images for my newest rescue client and this one just struck me as one to play with.

    What do you think?

The image was made against a blue Chroma-Key background in natural light.
I used a B&W conversion layer with a high-contrast red filter preset but masked out the eyes. Then an oval selection which was feathered to something crazy like 250 pixels, inverted and darkened in levels.

I should have done an 800 pixel version but I've got 500 on the brain for their website . . .

She won't last long !!! What an expression Do like conversion and leaving the eyes with color. As it is they are the most prominent feature then with the color they just pop even more !!! Your good Jim !!!

Jim, Your work brings tears to my eyes. I'm sure it goes along way toward getting these wonderful dogs permanent homes. (I came real close the other day to my third rescue dog....thankfully, common sense kicked in.) Your creative efforts in this image I think are really fine!

As nice as the one in color is, I think that her eyes in the mostly b and w go straight to the heart.

Lovely girl, I wish she finds a good home soon, and you did a great job with the conversion!

    Jim,
    I like both versions.

IMO a looser composition would make it even stronger.

I agree with the looser comp, but I didn't start playing until I had already sized it for their web site. I do have the original to play with though.
