Default Flying low through the grass Little l owl wild and free

Hi, this last week or so I have dedicated my owl photography in trying for late evening light and sunset shots ,this shot as proved to be the most difficult to date as I am sat on the ground to get the shot in a awkward position in the long grass were I have to handhold the camera and get in the prone position just before he arrives ,not comfortable at all , I am set up in a area I know he moves around between 5.00pm and dusk so its just pot luck what time he does arrive ,and that's if he doesn't get disturbed as that can put another 20 mins on the time he may come back ,this is one of many I have achieved this week ,no bait or calls needed to get the bird in action like this as its been a routine of his for years ,the only thing I have done is move a broken post in front of his favoured one ,nothing else....Canon 1dmkiv handheld with the 300mm f4 at f4 iso 800 1/1600 sec +1/3 ev Name: BPN-Little-owl-(1-of-1).jpg

Suffering for your craft works! Beautiful image, Dennis! Wonderful wing position, and eye contact. Sweet light and wonderful details. The overall colors just work together well together, especially the BG. I might like just a little more DOF, but that would have compromised the creamy background, so I think you made the best choice.

Very nice Dennis, prob your best owl image to date. The colours on the bird really compliment the BG perfectly. Great capture, and all your efforts paid off bigstyle

    Den,

You know how much I like your little owls, and this is a nice reward for all your hours. However, keeping with all the best traditions I couldn't resist a little tweak, so I cooled the white balance a little (maybe a bit too much actually) lifted the shadows a touch and gave a little extra sharpen.

    Mike
