This was photographed from a boat on the Chobe river. We got pretty close to him.

    Hi Sanjeev,

Up close and personal with lots detail, good choice on DOF; I like the eye contact and wonder if you might think about tweaking it (the eye) to give it a bit more life?

    Best,
    Katie

Hi Sanjeev - Nice close up portrait of the croc. The low pov really makes this image. Looks like s/he has a large gash on the underside of the jaw. As Katie said the dof works well. I just feel like it lacks a little punch and would give it a bit more pop.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Sanjeev, a formidable species, rather you than me with this guy, amazing to see how those teeth just interlock and that beady eye too... Love the 'handbag' texture and how the head is just full of peaks & troughs as it ripples down the snout.

Techs look good apart from... lol yes you know. I doubt there is too much you can do with the eye due to lighting, I think what you have looks balanced. I took the liberty of flipping just for comparison. nasty gash on the lower jaw.

Again I think you have the detail it's just teasing more from the RAW. I think also by reducing both the exposure & saturation it helps to separate things more. It's very hard to physically type all the various layers and changes, but most of it is via Curves, Levels and Luminosity masks and blends, sorry. I think perhaps it's something you need to think about for the future to really make those image have more standout. It takes some time to get to grips but it does make all the difference. I did add some more localised sharpening too.

    TFS
    Steve

PS The dark shadow areas are a fraction clipped, but this was just to illustrate things, hope that's OK.

    Dear 'master flipper' Steve,
The flipped image looks equally good and I like the tweaks with the better colour and contrast. Yeah, these guys are formidable indeed. And this guy seems to have been through rough fights looking at that gash. I was happy to get the low POV and used f/9 as I was quiet close.
    TFS.

Sanjeev sometimes it's all about the experience, overall it's a good image and puts me in mind of Morkels image posted some time back, however lets not loose the fact, what it is and what you captured.

A great close up of a subject I never tire of seeing, I could watch these all day long. I like the flipped version Steve has give, it makes it easier on my eye, it just 'reads' better. The scar is a really nice touch - they don't always get it all their own way!
