    Default Bobcat

Another theme image with water in the form of both the Madison River and snow in Yellowstone National Park. This time of a female bobcat as she patrolled along the riverbank looking for a meal in the late afternoon. The photographers/paparazzi were all set up on the opposite bank of the river and leap-frogged down the bank as she moved. This was actually taken on the same day as the coyote in my last post, just a little later. Dale may have posted a similar image previously. I realize I can also go to more of a 16x9 crop with some off the top but wanted to keep this ratio for this one.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Very nice exposure and detail in this image Rachel. I like the placement of the cat and the walking pose. Nicely done.

    Rachel,

Another interesting image with that same wonderful exposure, detail and contrast as the coyote image; I think I would prefer the 16x9 crop.

    Best, Katie

Hi Rachel -- Very nice image !! beautiful settings and like the appearance of snow , I would also prefer a 16x9 crop . nice sharpness at 5.6 with this lens , I always used 7.1 to achieve sharp results. TFS

Great exposure Rachel, I love the placement of the cat within the image and the BG makes for a very pleasing image.

Lovely shot Rachel, I too would go for a more panoramic crop. Do you have any more of the water below though, it might be nice to have a touch more

Here's a 16x9 version and with a bit more water below for Mike.

    Thanks again,

Very nicely composed and exposed Rachel - crop from the top was the right call as per your RP, my initial thought as well

    Hello Rachel,

Very late on this one, my apologies for being absent for so long. This is an awesome find Rachel, love this cat strolling about with its large paws buried in thick snow - what a beauty!

Well exposed and nice detail, sharpness spot-on. I particularly like the concentration from the Bobcat and the way she walks so purposefully:)

I am unsure which version I like most, I think I like both just as much. I would try flipping as per Steve's suggestion, to see what happens?

If you ever decide to try a B/W on this one I would love to see it. This is well processed as usual, and I like the composition and presentation - superb work my friend

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Rachel, you know I always enjoy your images with winter/snow BG's, and I really like this one, as you have a rare subject ( at least for me ). Great walking pose with the raised paw, and I like how the Bobcat pops against the snow. Overall, well exposed on the snow, and your RP is a winner.
