This was two days ago, and I think it's the one least advanced of the three. This was quite likely it's first tentative hop above the nest, on an afternoon with a decent breeze. It is just a few feet above the nest but none of it was in the frame. Mama's head was in the LL, but more of a distraction than part of the story so removed.
Canon 7D2, 300m f/2.8 + 1.4X, ISO 800, f/5.6, 1/2000 sec. The sun was high (2 pm) but there was some strong fill light from the nest -- maybe a little whitewash in there... Basic lighting wasn't changed from the raw file, just some tweaking for local contrast. A little Shadow recovery and Clarity in LR, then into PS for some NR (Nik Dfine) and a further punch of midtone contrast. Cropped to 60% of the original frame.
I like this Diane, love the bird against the pure blue BG, the talons are so clear against the fanned tail, perfect exposure and sharp throughout. Another good advert for the 7D mk11
Outstanding image! The feather patterns and details are exquisite! Wonderful exposure. As Ivan said, the talons are so clear and sharp....well done! I think this is one of your best! TFS!
I agree with other members, this is much better than your earlier osprey shots. Good work in all departments; field-craft, techs and PP. Well done, Ian.
