    Default Pied Kingfisher Wing Stretch

This comp is a bit unconventional, as the subject is placed on the second third of the frame. I went with this, as I liked the flow of the perch, together with the wing following the perch to the LLC. Your thoughts. Taken in the Pilanesberg National park.

Gorgeous pilanesberg BG and perch with an equally gorgeous PKF. I like your comp a lot as I agree on the flow of the wing and perch! Nicely exposed and perfect sharpening.

Stuart when I first looked before opening the picture was thinking the bird was to far to the right, wrong again Keith! Composition works very well for me, bird and BG are excellent.

Hi Stu - Great job on the exp. The comp works for me as I like the way the kingfisher mimics the lines of the perch. You certainly get beautiful bgs and this is no exception.

Attractive BG and perch. I think the bird needed to be turned 180 for the comp to work.....

Sometimes the subject matter dictates an unconventional comp. This one works for me. And I love the stark b&w of the bird against the colored bg.

Works for me! A good example of breaking the rules! Agree with Bill about the B&W of the bird against the colored background.....very nice. Good job with the exposure control of the B&W subject. The only thing I note is a little loss of detail on the birds neck. But that's an awfully small nit in an otherwise perfect image! TFS!

Excellent image, Stuart Sir. Wonderful composition. Great HA and pose and nice wing stretch. Beautiful BG.
Love the placement of kingfisher in the frame. Superb IQ.

Hi Stu, killer background, love the 'small in frame' approach, good choice of format, nice work.
