    Default Zambezi Sundowner

    Attached Images Attached Images

An elephant bull quenches his thirst from the Zambezi river as the sun sets on a hazy afternoon in Mana Pools, Zimbabwe.
Being on foot, I was able to capture various angles and perspectives of this guy.
The mountains behind him form part of the Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia.

Sweet light, Morkel! I like the soft pastel colors in the sky and sand which contrasts with that majestic fellow to really show him off.

Hi Morkel - This works on all counts for me as well. Lovely soft colors and beautiful light. Portrait orientation was a good choice.

Hi Morkel, nice, clean portrait, POV/perspective works well here with a cool layering background. Is it my old memory or Daja Vu???

Thanks folks! Posted a different perspective of this sighting before, indeed.

Doug - this is a bit further East than we normally ventured given the location of our campsite for our safari, although I think we did visit Mana Mouth once or twice during our trip. This was just a few hundred yards west of Mana Mouth.

I see. Thanks for the info. I think I remember, but we saw so many wonderful places that they tend to run together in my mind.

Gloriously simple yet effective shot, has so much depth to it with the water, the mountains and the great light. It would be a definite contender for a space on my wall I it was mine
