Little owl on a mission

A bit of fun with the little owl, I noticed when I visited the site around 4.00pm the male was knocking around not far away ,the light was on my side for a decent shutter speed so cue the set up for some walking shots ,luckily I didn't have to wait long before curiosity got the better of him.....canon 300mm F4 at 5.6 1/1600 sec ISO 800 +1/3 EV Little owl on a mission by dennis greenwood, on Flickr

How totally cute with that purposeful stride and misplaced feather. Clearly the perch isn't natural, but I would still like to see more of it to give the image more of a base. Sweet composition with lots of walking room.

Hi yes the resizing 1200x1000 is causing issues ,it stretches the image as though it is squashed..it did the same with my barn owl,not sure if its me or not.

Totally cute!! Agree about wanting a little more of the "perch."

Is the stretching occurring in your JPEG preparation, or after you post? If before, you just want to size it so the longest side is 1200 and let the vertical go where it will. It should keep the original aspect ratio. The easiest way is to export from Lightroom with a preset, but if you're using PS, in the image size dialog be sure the width and height are "linked" together -- just change the width for a horizontal and let the height follow as it will. (The appearance of the dialog box has changed with recent PS versions.)

Hi I think that's the problem,i do the longest side at 1200,i then put in 1000, maybe as said I should leave the 1000 alone
