Default Laura's Loon - common loon wing flap

My long suffering wife has patiently viewed a lot of my loon pictures over the years. She really liked this one a lot, so I thought I would post it. I had been set up for family portraits, so smaller f/stop helped with my DOF. Soft light that day as well. It is quite unusual to see the texture along the back of the neck, so I was pleased with that detail.

Post: slight rotation, added sliver of canvas on left, selective sharpening

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Randy, you have a stunning image here! Excellent body and wing position. Good exposure control of both the whites and blacks. Sharp with good details, and water drop too. Soft, beautiful BG. This is a winner, both technically and aesthetically!

Hi Randy, Wonderful detail and pose and I like the fact you can still see the eye with this pose so the viewer still makes a connection with the subject

A beautiful image, You really handle the exposure well, a stunner background, The background view is excellent, I could see a little mere head turn, But I would be thrilled as is.

A superb image with great look at the wings and texture on it. I like the low angle and sweet BG. Love the wing spread!

I like seeing this behavior from the back. You have just enough of the eye to make it work, and I love that green BG and the water spray.

Hi Randy, Im glad you have posted this, as I have an image waiting in the wings with an angled pose away from the camera. This low angle really works well in this, and I like the show of the wings showing their detail and colours. Flying droplets look good, and your placement of the Loon is spot on. Well captured.

Your wife should choose more of your images.
