I found this beauty repeatedly perching on an old scrag in the dunes Dunes along the ocean Saturday morning and I of course had to take a photo.

Nikon D300, 500 AFS VR lens with a TC17EII. ISO 500, NearUniWB preset, 1/500, Center weighted metering, +.7 EV compensation.

Great eye contact and details in the yellows. A lower angle would have been even better, but I guess that was not in the cards.

    Default Good Morning Axel

I guess I need to start hauling a step ladder with me :)

I agree, but sometimes things are just up higher than me.

    Hi Jim,
Nice capture and composition. I like the colors of your bird...I do notice that his eye needs a little selective sharpening...

The yellow just pops off the blue sky. Nice pose, I like when you can see the breast, back, and side in the same image. THere is something about the feathers by their eye that always look a little soft, bet another round of selective sharpening will help. Real nice work.

The angle does not bother me here - it is not steep. The yellow against the blue is so striking. Great job.

Beautiful image and I love the way this one just pops against the blue sky. Love it just as posted. Thanks for sharing Jim.

Lovely color palette and definition, your focal length worked in flattening the steep angle. Very well done, Sir :)

    Hi Jim,

Love the head turn, catchlight and color contrast. Very nice as presented!
