    Default Osprey with fish

Here's another pass made by the osprey I posted yesterday. Wish I could catch them fishing at first or last light but it hasn't happened in the 29 times I've been out there this season.

Canon 7D2, 100-400II at 340, ISO 800, 1/2500 at f/5.6. M exposure. Cropped to 45% of full frame -- I could have been zoomed out to 400. Hard to keep up with them when they head straight toward me. Minimal adjustments in LR and into PS for compositing a different raw conversion for the brightest areas and very slight lightening of the face and fish.

Superb clarity, pose and display. The detail has held up very well. It is a frustration that we feed on...the desire for nature to play the game we wish for, but doesn't, and the satisfaction comes, though only rarely, when she provides us with what we least expected or could have dreamed.

This is one of the best osprey with fish captures I have seen for a while. Nice to see what the 7DII + 100-400II can do. All looks good to me. Regards, Ian.

Nice to see a Flying Osprey with the fish that still has the head attached. Nice flight pose and eye contact, Diane.

Nice one, Diane, and especially cool to see the head still on the fish!

Thanks everyone! I'm getting more with whole fish the last few days. Wish I understood more about their behavior.
