    I think the light is very nice.
    I think this would look great as a vertical if you have the pixels.
    I really like the raised feather and the reflection of the sun/sky in the eye.
    The lichens are a nice element of the perch.
    What camera are you using? If it is the 1 DX or !DMKIII I would easily bumped up the ISO to 1600 and go for a bit more DOF.
    Another thought to improve this very nice image would be to desaturate the green of the BG slightly.

    Very nice image. Love the clean smooth background and the mossy perch. Good details in the bird.
