    Uncluttered perch with sharp focus on the eyes and good DOF. I like the feather details and the clean background. Of course it could be cropped vertical, but I like the inclusion of a bit of the environment. I think you've done a fine job here. TFS!

    This is lovely Karl.
    Great inclusion of the environment.
    I see some red on the breast. Was he injured? Perhaps it is just the way the wind was blowing on his feathers?
    This could also go as a vertical if you have enough pixels.

    Gail and Lorant, the red is even more extensive when the wind blows the feathers.
    Every bird has a bald spot on the belly but it is usually skin colored.
    We discussed it with other birders and could not figure this bird fully out.
    Not having seen too many juvies (in fact none) of this species I can't really comment.

    Love your framing here Karl. I love the size in the frame. If anything, I'd even make the bird smaller in the frame instead of going vertical.
