A Privilege

To have such an opportunity is such a privilege! I am so thankful to everyone who has supported my workshops / tours through all the years. Who could be
so fortunate? Travel to these destinations is expensive, costs and overhead are high, it is a ton of work, so when we come home with a shot like this, it seems all worthwhile.
Take with my D300 @ 1/640s f/4.0 at 200.0mm iso200 - 200-4 vr1. February 2011.
Maybe a titch soft, but wow, was I in a state! She walked right to me, turned around and went on about her business.
There should be a switch on our systems - "Adrenaline rush!" to automatically compensate!
I was "hiding" underneath the safari truck! she heard the clicks coming from a different angle, then became curious.
Hand held, one elbow in the dirt.
The top left sky was clear, so I added some trees.
It is amazing how respect for nature has its returns.

Hi Raymond -- Amazing low angle !! The eye contact is priceless , i do find it a bit soft and bit tight from the top but certainly enjoyed viewing this . TFS !!!

I agree with the comments but the angle is fantastic. Selective sharpening of the face could give more oomph.

Curious that you didn't nail focus better, looks like a close encounter. Regards, Ian.

Hi Raymond, I like the low pose, obviously she was above you, however the biggest issue is low SS resulting in a soft image. At the end of the day, if the RAW isn't sharp then no matter how much you apply sharpening the image will only deteriorate sadly. I also feel there needs more overall tone and depth both in the FG & subject and taking out some casts within the whites. Rachel did a good job, but overall it's a little thin so to speak.

Hi Raymond, great opportunity and a priceless pose. Rachel's RP brought out some more details on the eyes, but it also shows some crunchiness due to the RAW file not sharp to begin with. the I don't know the D300, but why such a low ISO? Loi

Thanks everyone, yes, the D300 is iso challenged, softness is not likely due to out of focus, more to do with the excitement of the moment, and trying to hold the camera still
with this cat being face to face, and nothing between us. I do have sharper images of this scene, but the look and lowered neck appealed to me here.
Thanks for the comments!
