Hi Morkel -- IS it a big crop ? The BG looks quite distorted . You have handled the light quite well and i liked that cubs expression ( the one who is drinking ) . TFS!

about 70% of original frame Haseeb
I think the TC messed up the IQ here, was before I had it calibrated with the setup - sharp eyes
You're also seeing the effect of heat in the Kalahari, even at 7am time it could be around 28-30 degrees C this time of year (early summer)

Hi Morkel lovely light you have even if starting to get harsh already .
Love the very realistic looking Kalahari colors .Nice detail and and great sharpness where it counts , lovely processed my friend.
The pose of the two is also nice with the one giving you a look into those illuminated eyes .
I just think it is a bit tight all around.
Just asking curious , from my memory Craig Lockhart is just pure concrete , but i could well wrong Morkel.

Hi Morkel - Lovely colors and light and I very much like the look to camera of the one and the drinking action of the other. I agree perhaps too aggressive a crop all around.

beautiful scene, excellent. I see the distortion in the bg, and suggest it is a result of using VR., and the 1.4 tc. (could be wrong, but his is the reason I never use VR.)

I agree about the distortion, a suggestion-possibly less of the Oof fore ground and little more space at the top, but a typical Kgalagadi back ground, I like the light and colour.

I hope I am this lucky in 3 weeks time when I am in the Kgalagadi. Tfs

Hi Morkel, sweet image and I like the face you have the head in the reflection. Totally ares with Ben's observation about cropping. You should really be posting full size, not sure why not, as images like this deserved to be displayed to their full potential????

Cheers Steve - just lazy my friend!

Here it is at 1200px, recropped, but not much left at the top after rotation I'm afraid...

    Hello Morkel,

Would love to know the time of the day when you took this frame, I guess it must have been after 8 am and probably during summer - indeed the light is still very sweet, the BG is "mottled" IMO not due to VR, but due to heat... I have a number of images that look like this, and one has to experience this phenomenon to understand it...A tough choice here, any less than F8 and you would have an OOF cheetah...this is what I call "liquid air" and not much one can do about it, I think.

Lovely expression from the cub looking towards you, I notice a bit if blue creeping in on the water there ( can you fix it?), at the same time I so like the reflection of the cub drinking - very special sighting my friend and well done in capturing the moment...Unlike Ben, I have to wait till net February to see the Kalahari again, so very jealous right now...

Have a wonderful Sunday Morkel, my apologies for viewing and commenting so late...
