Another of those heard before seen marsh birds. These small little guys are loud too! This one hopped up onto a cattail to check out the surroundings before plunging back into the thick stuff...only to be heard loudly again.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp, usual eye work, darkened the cattail, audio used.

A beauty Daniel! I like the loose composition, perch, pose, IQ and that BG is amazing. That's quite the lens you were using lol.

Delightful Wren - looks great against that background, great pose and nice placement in the frame.

Agreed - some lens! Hand held?

    Best wishes, Gerald

Lovely image, Daniel. I like the composition and space around the bird. The out of focus vegetation in the background so much compliments the image, not to mention the wonderful color palette. Thank you for sharing.

Just love that BG! You've captured a perfect wren pose. These guys have so much personality. Just nit picking, but I would clone out the part of the cattail above the left foot that's merging with the body.

It is so hard to pull this type of environmental shot off and you nailed it.
Perfect singing pose and the FG leaves add a beautiful depth to the image.
I really like this one, daniel.
Great colors palette as well. Cheery and happy like the wren!

This is one of the best images I have seen on here lately Dan. Great colours throughout and the details on the wren are amazing. The greens in the BG blend perfectly with the bird and the perch. Love that pose. Great work

    Daniel:

All the pertinent points have been made. You have hit just the right blend of background detail/softness to show off your subject beautifully.

Only minor observation left - when I first looked at the bird, I thought it had 3 legs, because of the projection from the top of the cattail. Might be an option to remove that to clean up that area.

    Lovely as is.

    Congrats.

This is one heck of an image, Daniel! Love that pose with the tail up, and the vegetation and color palette is extremely pleasing.
