Another new species for me from the East Iceland Fiords.
Sorry about the messy beak, but they always have their beak into something.
This was on a huge seaweed/kelp bed. The Greenland sea is the BG on a dreary rainy day......

Beautiful shot, Dan. Lovely warmth to the bird (a new one for me), against the cold surging sea. I don't mind the beak at all; that's what they do. Sharp, nicely composed and well exposed. Of course a few degrees of head turn would bring it up a tiny notch, but I'd be thrilled with this.

I love the rich colours on this fella - well rendered by you. I also really like the "raging sea" as a backdrop. Yes, a bit more head turn would have been better, and I would be tempted to darken the blacks along the FG. Nicely done overall.

The Godwit against that backdrop is awesome. Seaweed bed, being similar to the bird's colors works well, without being distracting. Love the messy bill!

Great image, Dan. Like the rich contrast and overall IQ. Very nice detail.

The perfect bird for a dreary overcast day for sure. Lots of beautiful rich color and I like pose with the beak full of debris from his constant probing for food. He stands out well against that light background. Well done

Love the environmental aspects of this image, and the bird just pops off the screen. The rough water in the BG is my favorite element.
