    Hello everyone !

This image was taken at Pench National Park,Madhya Pradesh,India in the month of JAN 2015. It was pretty dark and the siblings were on the prowl on a cold winter morning . Being the litter of a very dominant female of Pench they are surprisingly very shy and tend to avoid humans in the absence of their mother and hence they were moving quickly into the woods as soon as they saw human presence but all of a sudden their mother arrived on the scene and gave us some opportunity to shoot.

It was pretty dark and hence i thought to experiment with Tigers, as a result i went 4 stops under and tried to get only the whites with all 4 of them together , but managed only 2.

Technical Information: 4 stops under exposed,Tv: 1/6400, Av: 4.0, iso: 1250, Body: Canon 5D MK III, Lens: Canon 300mm f 2.8 IS IIPost Processing: RAW conversion in DPP 4, Layers: Selective Colour, Levels,Noise Reduction,Black and white conversion.

    C & C are most welcome :) !!!

Hi Haseeb very experimental , and always nice to see different views and approaches of different people .
For me it is not working really well as the Tigers are just lost in darkness and in the size of the frame , plus the centered placement .
    Sorry i am just honest
    TFS Andreas

Hi Haseeb - Good for you for experimenting. Unfortunately, my thoughts are along the same lines as Andrea's. For this to work for me, the tigers needed to be a bit bigger in frame, the whites a tad brighter and the tigers not so centered in the frame. Keep experimenting though.

    TFS,
    Rachel

    Hello Haseeb!

I like your experiment, although it does not work 100% for reasons mentioned above. Yet I would not give up on this frame so easily...just thought of something...

I will be away for a few days so unable to reply till early next week, but if you feel like playing around a bit, how about getting more from the tigers and changing the crop at the same time? Here's my take, a bit rough but surely you can do much better when working from RAW.

    Keep experimenting

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Haseeb, Andreas is right, but for me, it's an encounter to witness and enjoy and to put the camera down.

Thank you everyone for your opinions on this !

@ Steve -- under such situations apart from enjoying it , I also try to experiment in some bizarre ways as you never know what you can come up with :)
@ gabriela - I still prefer the OP over yours but thanks for trying your hand on it , and pls do the same in all my future images when ever u feel necessary !

    Dear Haseeb,

I will do so, and thank you so much for your reply. Also, my apologies for coming back to you so late, my life is a bit hectic right now but I'll be back and posting soon...

I do believe this sighting was very special for you, it would have certainly been for me too. Perhaps, just like Steve, I might have put the camera down and taken it all in. Although I am always tempted to capture what I see... The main problem with this image is, the subjects are lost somewhere in the middle of the night, one facing the camera and the other, smaller one, walking away from it. Not enough outlines, not enough shape, the eyes are not visible at all. I want to hang on to something here, I need to "feel" some emotion...I did try, but could not find it. It was there for you at the time you captured this, and I fully appreciate that. And I am happy to see you experimenting, I also know that - given the opportunity - you will delight us with awesome images. Do keep them coming please, I cannot wait to see more and I am always ready to connect with your frames and those places/wildlife specimens you encounter on your travels.

On last thing... I sometimes use awkward piles of words to convey what I felt when witnessing something special, because words help me report on how I felt at the time and help give you (the viewer) gain a sense of my experiences. Your "Elusiveness" needs a bit more background IMO, since the sighting is somehow more important than the capture itself. I strongly believe there is more than one purpose of photography: one is to make sense of what we felt or saw, another is to share the source of beauty. A couple more words about the atmosphere at the time you took this frame might have fulfilled my expectations, if you know what I mean...

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

    Thank you Gabriela !
" I strongly believe there is more than one purpose of photography: one is to make sense of what we felt or saw, another is to share the source of beauty " point taken . Will try my best from now on to share the story behind the image in future posts and will also have to follow your work more aggressively in order to learn how to play with words ! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the image. Hope I continue to receive your opinion on all my future posts !
