Default Bare Throated Tiger Heron... Ala Costa Rica

    Attached Images Attached Images

The Bare Throated Tiger Heron from Costa Rica's Pacific side. An easily spooked species. Required stalking/crawling in the tall grass.. seems like it was a cat and mouse game until he lifted out of the grasses and settled into some preening action. These herons are hunting machines, as it wasn't long before he was in the grasses again, with his head buried in the weeds.

Beautiful, beautiful bird and image. While I could do with just a bit less grass this one works just fine. I love the sharpness, the perfect head and throat angle, the perfect EXP, and a sweet perch and BKGR. a

Love the bird, perch, and BG. I actually thought the bird could be just touch sharper, which seems to be only my opinion (so you should definitely take it with a grain of salt!). My only other criticism are the weeds intersecting with the tail feathers. Nothing you could do about them but it does make the frame look very natural--which it sounds like it was! I'd love to see more of Costa Rica!

What a super cool heron! I love the almost dizzying details on the fine feather patterns. Sweet BG, and good perch. Ideally no grasses would touch the tail, but man, that is one fine image you got here.

The plumage looks like an optical illusion.
An incredibly beautiful bird captured in wonderful surroundings.
    Nicely done.

Ha ha I still remember when I spotted this guy! slam on the brakes and go to shoot! it sure gave us great opportunities!
You got some killer feather patterns here and with sweet light, which is not easy in Costa Rica.
