Here's a last one of this nest before I put those into the archives. I took many, including the at the nest hole youngsters by themselves, but due to light angle and BG issues most were of this angle. Here we see the male bringing in some juicy tidbits for the eager young. BTW, I was only able to visit the nest twice, then all three nestlings successfully became fledglings according to some local photogs that witnessed them flying out.
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, cropped for comp (about 80% FF), darkened some of the brighter areas of the BG, toned down the crest by adding cyans to the reds.
Hi Dan, excellent exposure, sharpness and detail on the parent, and the worm in the beak takes this up a few notches. I do like the 'begging' beak of the youngster, and seeing the eye would have been first prize. No doubt you have tucked away for another occasion.
