Northern Black Korhaan

Northern Black Korhaan - Afrotis Afraoides (endemic to southern Africa)
I love the way these guys explode from their arid grassland habitat with a degree of panic and a serious squawk. Always fun to photograph
Location: Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, South Africa
Date taken: 14 June 2015
ISO 400 / f6.3 / 1/2500s / -0.3
Sharpened for web, curve and vibrancy

What a great looking bird and I like the habitat.
Too bad a bit too much is in the way, but a nice look at this species...

I like the habitat inclusion. It seems to make an image less sterile than just a pure BG and FG.
Well exposed with good details in all tones and I like the comp.
A very pleasing image Richard, at least for me.

I actually like the surroundings quite a lot here, a great depiction of the habitat. The subject looks great with rich blacks. I like the slight head tilt. Well done.

Hi Rich, excellent exposure on this fellow, and what a super pose. These guys are so skittish, so having captured him this fairly open space is a real bonus.
