This has to be one of the most bizarre birds I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Looks as if he were designed by a committee on hallucinogens. It is sometimes called The Stink Bird, because of its diet of semi-toxic leaves and a strange digestive system somewhat like a ruminant mammal. Taken in the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve of Peru, several hundred miles up the Ucayali river from where it joins the Amazon. Removed a few branches; added a tint to the high-key sky. Almost full height cropped from horizontal.

I heard and seen images if this bird before. Strangely beautiful bird having claws on the wings. Excellent find and great image, Bill.

I just love this weird looking bird. What a thrill it must have been for you to see it!
Great frame with good comp and lots of details. I think you could lift the shadows under the belly a bit.
I love the little bit of green on the perch.
    Well done Bill!

I am in awe and jealous at the same time. A chance of a lifetime used well. Wonderful image, Bill, thank you for sharing.

I love everything about this image Bill. I like your comp, the bird placement and the curious pose. The slanted perch is just right. The bird, of course is special.

This is a gem of a capture, Bill. Speaking of strange design, for those of you that might have missed the claw on the birds right wing (another on the left wing not showing here) captured nicely, Bill. Great outstretched neck, head plumage, large feet, and tail display. Nice work on the BG.

Great looking bird indeed. Agree about trying to extract some more detail from the dark areas.
Well taken mate and thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments. I'll go back and see if I can open up the belly area.
