I much prefer the regal pose of these two over one in the grass. The one on the right is more dynamic.
The contrast is low -- I don't remember what you are using for processing but here it is with a Levels applied and the right hand slider brought in. That makes the sky white, but that's what you were given. Get the contrast best on the subject. You can mask the effect just to the subject if you're that advanced.
Also did a small amount of Smart Sharpen, which often helps with a JPEG. (Do it after resizing, not to the master file.)

I like the regal pose as well. What a nice perch he picked for you! I like the HP in the second one best, very nice.
Regal for me too! Fabulous bird and image! Like Diane's RP.... I'm seeing a bit of a blue "blob" above the head/crest that looks like it was there in the OP too, but a bit more pronounced in Diane's RP. (Jealous of your great birds there too, CM!)
