    Default Osprey takeoff with fish.

I captured this Osprey plunge into the water and take off with this catfish last week. In full disclosure, after reviewing this series of shots for a week, I have come to conclusion that this fish was dead or dying at the time of capture. Hence the upside down carry. The Osprey was not baited in any way.

Lovely looking frame Robert. Great POV and DOF. Nice details on the bird and I like the way the fish leaves a trail on the 'dreamy' water. The BG finishes it off very nicely. Good work

The way it sits so low in the frame, I think you could trim a touch from the top.

Lovely action shot Robert and good work getting it as it unfolded so close to you.

    Thanks for sharing.

Great piece of action Robert think just the trace of shadow under the bird really adds to this fine image.

    Robert:

Great POV, shallow DOF providing excellent isolation, yet allowing a sense of depth from the trees.

Well done framing this in camera when you were so close.

Really gives a sense of the effort to take off with this fish.

In a perfect world, a sliver of head turn our way, and seeing the fishes head would have been nice, but a powerful frame none the less.

    Cheers

Just awesome but Randy's word is the right one: Powerful. I agree completely with what Randy said and I agree a little off the top could work.

Super action you captured here!! It looks like FD from the background. Like the included environment and how you can tell how large the fish is in relation to the raptor.

I like the low angle, BG, sharpness and splash trail left by the tail of the fish dragging in the water. Excellent series Robert!

Hi Robert, thats a fair catch your Osprey has picked up for his next meal, and I like the forward wing position. I really like that wave in the FG.
