In honor of American Eagle Day, here's an image of my favorite bald eagle pair. I've been photographing this pair for 8 years, and they're still going strong! I have posted a fun mating sequence over in the Story Sequences Forum here http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...77#post1072077. If you have a chance, please check out some of the amazing photographic sequences over our newest forum.

Very nice, there is a slight feeling of haze around the birds darker feathers, not sure why that is. Otherwise very nice.

Nice tack sharp and well exposed Eagles.
I think a vertical crop would look nice.....

Excellent, Marina. I agree with Dan that a vertical crop focusing even more closely on these magnificent birds might be worth considering. But this is very nice as is.

Wow, what a pair of beauties Marina. To get so much detail and sharpness across both of them is superb - not envious in the slightest of this one!

Thanks for the comments and critiques, folks. I was photographing in horizontal format at 1000mm so no room for much cropping or any kind. However, here's an example of a similar image taken on the same day taken in vertical. Maybe you can compare and tell me which format you prefer.

I prefer the crop of the OP.
Really draws the eye in to the eagles.
Great exposure and the feather detail is perfect.
    Nice shot Marina!

    Marina:

Lovely pair, the guy must feel a bit whimpy compared to the much larger female.

For personal taste, I do prefer the vertical version.

Nice to have a reliable pair to work and hang out with!

I prefer the vertical. Suits the steep angle of view better IMO.

Hi Marina, well exposed, and you have captured the feather detail so well - tack sharp too. I like the facing poses from both, and comp wise, I would go for the OP with a bit more space on each end - still centrally placed.

    Marina,
I love the pose in the original. The exposure, sharpness and feather detail are superb; I need more schooling from you!

Great looking frames Marina!! I like the OP best. The feather detail and exposure look perfect and the poses of both birds is very appealing. Maybe just a little levels slide to add a few points of dark on the OP. Very nice eagle frame.
