This female with 4 cubs to feed caught this unfortunate scrub hare right in front of our vehicle, it was all over in a few seconds. And with the 500/4 in my hand was just far too close to capture the take down........ah but what memories
Ndutu region/Serengeti Nat Park- Nith Tanzania.

D4s 500 f/4 VR 1/1250s f/5.6 ISO800. Almost F/F, bean bag from front pax seat, curves, levels, TK masking/luminosity on the bright BG, PS CC '15 & ACR.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

    Pretty cool prey and pose.
Nice job toning down the BG, but I think a bit more contrast on the Cat would make it pop a bit more...

Great moment captured Marc...and I agree we sometimes need to let go of the obsession with "the shot" and put down the lens to take it all in with our senses.
I felt your OP was washed out and had too much red and magenta going for it. What do you think of this QUICK repost?

Morkel's repost is nice, maybe a tad dark but the colors are a bit better. Great scene.

    Thanks Morkel

I think your RP has taken out that very slight cast on the cheetah, but has made the BG somewhat darker here, but appreciate the effort made.

Well, I went for a darker feel because of the "washed out look" I saw in the OP - all personal taste in the end

Hi Marc -- what a sight !! I liked your OP , Morkels RP is quite dark but it has enhanced the glow in the Hare's ears ! Enjoyed this image TFS !!!

Well done Marc, superb scene.. It just looks a titch flat, I would try to maintain the brightness, but add a bit of clarity. imo!

After a second look, it really looks fine as is!

    congrats!

Hi Marc well done , it seems that you had a great time in the past with all your predator shots .

I like the overall comp and you handled the light quite well , the hare is a extra nice bonus.Color does look ok to me .
But agree it does look a bit washed out , kind of HDR setting at low %.
I liike Morkels attempt , but agree it is a wee bit heavy .

Hi Marc - Love the title. The comp works very well. Somewhere between your op and Morkel's rp for me.

    Hi Marc

What a moment captured! I have never even seen this before!
The light was not your friend here, makes it very difficult...
With the angle of sun, you could not get much detail in darks, but the luminescent bunny ears make up for it.
    Regards

    Andre.

Maybe a version between yours (Marc) and Morkel's would be something to settle on?
You were there though, so you decide mate.
    Overall a very pleasing shot.
    Thanks for sharing.
