This Great Blue Heron was photographed in the fog below the Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River in Maryland, while I waited for the sun to burn off the fog to photograph bald eagles. The image was enhanced by applying a Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 Fine Art Process filter.

    All C&C are welcome.

Excellent composition with placement of the subject and the strong diagonal line of the rocks. The scene lends itself to B&W. If mine I would level the distant shore line and take a tad off the top.

The very foggy conditions and the use of Silver Efex Pro creates a fabulous, moody atmosphere. Good composition with the rocks collectively wedge-shaped and leading into the frame, and the single heron standing on the top. Great touches with the splashing water, balancing the swirly bkgd with the lighter points. Thanks for coming over to OOTB!

I agree that the fog and your processing created a wonderful mood. I really like the lighter splashing water in contrast to the shore. Well done.

Super composition and black & white was a great choice. Your position relative to the scene silhouettes the heron very, very well.

Terrific atmosphere and black and white conversion. I am with Gary with a leveling of the horizon. Not bad use of your time while waiting for the eagles

Great atmospherics! B&W really works here.

I noticed you listed fairlee creek, md. That is near Chesterton, isn't it? I haven't been there in years, but I love that area! Do they still have great fireworks in Rock Hall on the 3rd with the Navy jazz band?
