I'm back home and starting to catch up.

Dandelion with textures. Part of a series of Dandelion photos I took for a friend.

I hope to post more photos on this theme.

I really like the colour and sharpness of the dandelion, and the texture you have chosen Anita. For me (and it is probably just me), the stem looks somewhat disconnected from the flower. I think this might have been an easy focus stack with one shot of the flower, and one of the stem. What do you think?

I agree with Jackie. The flower and textured bg are great. The out of focus stem, to my eye, does not look right.

Good points. I could have used a smaller aperture. This was taken at f 3.3.

I have to say I agree with Jackie & Gary. One possibility is to have the stem look more realistic like the flower, or to have the flower look more like the stem. I do love the colors & bkgd texture.

I appreciate honest critiques. That is how I can see my photos through the eyes of others.

I agree with the critiques above: the image would be more cohesive if the stem were in focus. I really like the contrast between the texture and the flower. Such a nice idea to turn a simple dandelion into a lovely photo!

Looking at this makes me wonder why more people don't photograph dandelions. If they weren't so uncontrollable, they'd probably be in everyone's flower beds. Intentionally, that is.

I very much like what you've done. Because the stem includes the background colors, it doesn't bother me too much that it's not in focus.

Because we live in a rural area, we let dandelions grow in our grassy areas. I enjoy them when they bloom and when they go to seed. So pretty.

I read an article the other day in a local newspaper that stated that the lowly Dandelion supplies bees with a much needed food source when nothing else is available. As above not much to add, except love the image, well done.

Hi, Anita, sorry I'm so late to the conversation and I'm in the group who commented on the stem. I love dandelions. The roots are very large and long and you can boil them up and make a calming tea (I used to do it for a nervous horse that I owned). I just googled it and I see it is marketed as a tea for humans

I appreciate the comments. Interesting about the bee food and the tea. I'm going to observe to see if bees come to my dandelions.
