    Default Some Golden Perch...

    Dear Friends,

Thought I'd pop in and share something I witnessed yesterday on a brief trip to the local Game Reserve. It was late afternoon and the light was stunning, I was trying to capture some close-ups of Cape Buffalo and suddenly a few Redbilled Oxpeckers landed on the boss (horns) of my subject - I quickly managed to grab a few frames. I quite liked what I saw when I downloaded my images, many I thought belonged to Avian and some to Wildlife Forum, but was unsure. So I asked the Moderators to move the image I posted there last night to this Forum as well, so now you will have to put up with two similar frames:) Let me know what you think, not 100% happy with the comp here because of the central positioning of the bird but here it is anyway...

Thank you so much for viewing, I really appreciate it.

    Kind regards,

Love it Gabriela, a very interesting perch indeed. Wonderful light, colors, exposure, and detail. I have never seen that bird or a Cape Buffalo this close before so a special treat. Thank you for sharing. And by the way, I enjoy reading your stories.

I think it is a lovely looking image Gabriela. The comp looks good to me, because of the position of the horns. Nice details on the bird and a lovely pose. But, my best part is the golden perch. It actually does look like it has been carved from gold Great work and thanks for sharing

A great capture, Gabriela, with beautiful light. Well titled; the horns are truly golden. And you didn't have much choice on the comp, since you wanted to include the entire horn. Thanks for sharing this.

I love the framing with the horns, and boy; do they have some scarring on them? What a gorgeous presentation with the light. Even the way the buffalo and the BG are separated by an almost perfect half-half diagonal light/dark contrasting tones make the image strong IMO.
Well done. It is a really good image I think. Birds don't always have to FILL a frame!

I love this bird and how it lives in a close relationship with the mammals of Africa. you captured this moment in the fantastic way. Light is beautiful and the crop works well IMO. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming.

For me, the image design is perfect. You might try adding about 50 points of CYAN to the REDs in Selective Color to tone them down just a bit. With just a bit more of a head turn toward us this one would be a contender :) EXP and SH Perfect and the light sweet as noted. All in all well done.

Hi Gaby, sweet, sweet light here, and I love oxpeckers. Nicely framed between the horns, and the central placement was the only way to go. Looks like a young Buff.

Love the way the light shows on those horns and certainly a very different perch, beautiful piece of work.

Beautiful image. Love it! Very regal perch! Good composition and enough DOF to get the full horn in focus
