    Default Beaufort, North Carolina

Beaufort is a coastal town established in 1709. There are streets. And a boardwalk. But it seems to be mostly about the water.

    • There's a lot of information online about doing curls at a corner. Everyone I found used Warp in Edit/Free Transform, and everyone ended up with a huge curl. My workaround was to paste a small rectangular selection from the lower left corner onto a new layer and apply the warping and other steps to it. The water underneath was copied from the opposite side of the image.
    • gradient vignette -- Multiply, masked off the curl

At first I wondered why the curl, but you say it's mostly about the water, so I see you peeling away the non-water for that reason. The cropping off of the boats gives the same message. good technique on the curl. thanks for the suggestion of how to do it.

Very interesting Dennis. The focus is definitely on the water, and I like the boardwalk on the diagonal. The page curl is a neat twist!

Dennis, I really like the dynamic nature of the water...the effects of the light and filters make it appear to be in motion. Well done.

A beautiful image in its simplicity. Count me in the not understanding the curl group :). I love the boats the most so would like to see some images of them more prominently featured. But I do love the cumulative effects.

The merits of the base image aside, I love the curl.

The curl is a cool effect, but I have to admit those boats caught my eye first. Love how they are processed. For this particular image, I don't think the curl adds to the impact. Would love to see it in another context.

    The curl . . .

I like Hazel's explanation and almost wish I could take credit for it. Not so, however. It was just an impulsive bit of whimsy.

This is likely the last you folks will hear from me for a while. I'm going to be restricted to a laptop with no editing software for some time. If I can view complete images, though, I might drop in to see what's happening and leave some comments.

re your "bit of whimsey" ----sometimes your artistic self takes over and creates....and later you find that bit of whimsey or thought out of nowhere actually has a reason for being. We'll miss your insights. Hurry back.

Love the turned up boardwalk corner! What a fun surprise. :-)

Lovely image. It conveys the comment that the town is about the water. Lovely light. Lovely texture to the water. Lovely reflections.

Looking forward to having you back.

I think we're both enjoying our iPhone, Dennis. I am amazed at how good the image quality is, I have used the curl on a whim also in the past, nice work.
