Neat image Bill, can you explain how you set it up? I might even erase the reflection to make it look like it is floating in the air. Welcome to OOTB!
Thanks for the comments Jackie
I really like the Sigma DP3M … sometimes …… it can "do" some wonderful things
We just went for lunch at a vineyard restaurant in S Africa … ordered a couple of glasses of wine .. our table was near the wall which was painted a dark bluish
I just angled the camera whilst resting it on the table …… took a few shots and then processed them in LR/PS when we got back home
simple and maybe lucky
good idea about removing the reflection .. I'll give it a go
Bill,
I like the image! I wish we could get the really good S.African wines here, but we only get the cheap ones (some not bad at all, however) I recently got a used DP-1. I am having a love/hate relation with it. At times the images are great, but it is pulling teeth with this primitive camera, behind the great sensor. I had an easier tme with my old Ikeda 4X5 film field camera!

Welcome, Bill. The gold and the shiny glass against the black background works really well. Tilting the camera was a good idea. What do you think about leveling the wine in Photoshop? In addition to Jackie's suggestion about the reflection on the table, I'd loosely select the bottom of the glass and desaturate it to get rid of that reflection, too. I look forward to seeing more of your work here.
The singular wine glass really pops against the all black, featureless background! I also like the slight tilt to the glass. A good eye to see a photo op while drinking wine! Where in South Africa are you? I have family in Cape Town.
And a big welcome to OOTB! Looking forward to more of your images.
pretty cool reflection pops
I love the tilt of the wine glass, and the texture of the glass as well. Welcome to OOTB!
Well done seeing the photo op. Leveling the wine as Dennis suggested and eliminating the shadow would make for a very cool image. Welcome to OOTB.
Even though it is tilting, I don't get the feeling that it falling over. Lovely light. The wine and goblet stand out nicely against the black bg.
Bill, I'm very late to the show but firstly, welcome to OOTB!!! I love the image and actually prefer the reflection. I hope we see more of your work here![]()
