The eye of an American Crocodile with the red colored lagoon waters around him. The white OOF blobs are lighter parts of the sand he is moving as he swims, wish they were not there, also I would have loved to be a bit lower, but then I a might not have lived to post the photo :)

Hi Dvir - In addition to the camera and lens, please post the EXIF data (ss, aperture, ISO, any EC) and a brief description of your pp. It helps the critique process and to give tips for in the field. Btw I agree with your self-critique here about a lower pov and the white blobs. At this higher pov I wish there was greater dof.

    TFS,
    Rachel

I updated that information. Even at this angle I still really enjoy the image, this is almost no crop, so no way you can get a depth of field that gets his whole face in focus, not even F/22 or a similar aperture.

    Hello Dvir!

I too enjoyed viewing your image - great to see you posting in Wildlife

At F22 I dare say you would get a lot more in focus - well, about double than your F11... not a big issue to me, although I am wondering about the ISO - perhaps you could have upped that to 800 without any loss of IQ?

Were you in the water with the croc? If the answer is "yes" then I gather you had to avoid some unwanted splash on your equipment... not sure whether getting lower would have made a difference in terms of safety though

I would love a close-up of that lovely eye, really looking forward to more images from this sighting if you have.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hey Dvir - good to see you posting here as well.
I like the texture and soft exposure, and DOF in general is fine for me - granted you could have gained some by upping ISO as mentioned.
To me the big thing is that the composition feels neither here nor there for me - the eye is very central and though I don't maintain that central placement should be avoided (I like "breaking" compositional rules myself) I do think my brain recognises that there needs to be more of the snout (more space in "front" of the eye, given the direction of movement and the implied direction of the lines of the reptile's head).
