...Curious little Cuties. Canada Geese Goslings peering over the parent's back.
Although I've not been "out there" much... Went down to the lake the other day.... Original capture was of all of this parent and one in the background... pretty mundane. After thinking about it for a couple of days, was like "HEY... the little ones are the star of the show!" So........ had to crop a LOT here, obviously IQ has suffered in the process, but fortunately was focused on the babes...What do you all think? (I'll post the full image in a day or so for comparison.) Canon 70D, 100-400II @ 300mm, f6.3, 1/2000.

They're cute! And so nice that you have eye contact from all, with nice catchlights. Small thing but you might crop or clone out the small darker part of a wave right at the top edge.

It does show some loss of quality from the crop -- you might try less sharpening and see how it compares -- you may have enough in the original that you don't need to push it more. The babies' feathers seem to be showing artifacts the worst.

Thanks for jumping in! Always nice to see what everyone is finding to shoot. I've been on an osprey and dragonfly kick lately -- both with the same rig -- 7D2 and 100-400 II + 1.4X. Coming back to the parking area from the osprey, we've been finding dragonflies settling down for the night. My osprey-shooting partner has amazing eyesight and knows a lot about dragonflies, which helps.

Thanks Diane! First, you are much too kind. I looked at this image again this morning and thought "Holy Cr*p... what's with THIS?!" Went back to the Raw... have had to open raw now with the old DPP, since PSE11 won't open this version. The colors (way red!), arbitrary (over) sharpening and posterization were there... backed everything off, converted and re-worked. I had just bought the 70D (and lens, which I LOVE), so hubs and I could shoot and share with the same bodies.... couldn't quite afford two 7DmkII's! (but if you have a couple of "spares" you could send me, that would be great! LOL!) Glad you are enjoying the Osprey and dragonflies! Two awesome subjects. Well, I think this version looks much more natural, tho obviously still the big crop. WDYT?

Oh yes -- WAY better!! There is something about going public with an image that shows up things you hadn't seen before. It certainly happens to me a lot.

I don't know if Elements does updates to the CRAW portion, as full PS does, but maybe not. The newest Elements would solve a newer camera issue, but there may be a cheaper way. You can convert files to DNG format and Adobe Camera Raw will open them. Wonder if that would work for Elements? The DNG converter is free and easy to use. It is updated soon after a new camera comes out. Google it to find the version for your OS.

Keep shooting! You'll keep loving that lens!

Love the repost. The only thing I'd cut is the adult's black neck. That should leave you with a pleasing crop.

Love the looks in their eyes and nice soft details on them.

Thanks Diane, Paul and Warren! Paul.... if I cropped out the adult neck.... then it seems that I won't have much "nose room" for the little one?
As to processing.... spent the day researching.... appears that my biggest problem is that I am running Vista... nothing will update nor upgrade nor install to that OS now. Not Elements, nor CS6 nor Lightroom. To-do list for next week: Upgrade to at least Windows 7, 64 bit, (if the puter can handle it)... option: new "brain"..... then upgrade the processing programs. It's always SUMTHIN!

It's a constant game of leapfrog -- but when you consider what we can do with images now, it's mind-boggling and so worth it! Best of luck with upgrading!

Sandy pleased that others have problems with colours, like yourself have looked at things that I have posted then looked again later thinking I must be colour blind. The repost is much better IMHO.
