    Default Chestnut Sided Warbler

This male chestnut sided warbler was photographed very near the previously posted image of the canada warbler. They seemed quite tolerant of one another for being close neighbors. Canon7d, Sigma50/500os, iso800, f8, 1/1000, small crop for composition's sake, NR to the bg, USM to the subject and perch via seperate layers. Comments and critiques welcome. The perch is not the same as with the Canada Warbler...though they seem to be the same age and show the same kind of wear marks....The background is hundreds to possibly 1000 ft away...
    Regards,
    Shawn Zierman.

Normally things look a little brighter on my work monitor than at home, so I don't comment on brightness. This, however, looks a little dark. Although, it appears from the eye that the sun was quite low for this shot.
I find the intersecting shapes on the diagonal created by the perch and the bird a very pleasing composition. HA is perfect, pose is very good too.
Lovely BG. Overall a very elegant image Shawn.

I think the image looks great and the brightness on my monitor looks perfect although I think some selective lightening around the eye will bring out the eye better and give it more definition and life. The pose, colors, feather details and distant colorful BG all look fantastic. Beautiful look at this species Shawn.

Nice pose of a beautiful species. My only problem is that it looks over sharpened on my monitor.

never seen this bird as I live in France

but the feather detail does look "hard" (over sharpening?) and the colours look over-saturated

    lovely bird and composition though

I am new to the Forum so excuse my comments if they seem direct

Sharpness and colours look good to me, but I agree some lightening on and around the eye area would probably be beneficial to the image. Great perch and superb BG...and good call going for verticals here.

Just when I think it can't get any better than that Canada Wau (LOL) from the other day, here comes this stunner. I love the rich velvety-ness (I just made up that word) and the deep color. Opening up the eye a bit wouldn't hurt.

Sweet, sweet, super sweet image, Shawn. One of the prettiest warblers imo and you've done him justice.
Beautiful detail, light and pose. The BG is amazingly beautiful too, and the perch is just right for me.

    This is excellent Shawn,
Beautiful pose and light and BG.
I too, think the image is a tad oversharpened but otherwise no nits from me.
    Congrats on a lovely shot,
    Gail

I like it as presented, overall brightness is good; I'd also sharpen it a bit less.
