    Default Merlin Bird Photo ID

Just read this in Pop Photo...its a beta program that attempts to
id a bird simply by the image you upload.

So far I've tried two images, a Chickadee and a female Cardinal
and the program was right both times.

    Here's the link...

    Oh yeah, its free.

Hi Doug.... cool idea for ID, but I'd prefer to use my own skills, supplemented by my favorite guides (both human and print.) Here is a link to a FB group showing how Merlin ID'd this pretty easy to ID bird... (This group is the FB Bird Mis-identification group.... birders that are extremely knowledgeable, yet with an intense sense of warped humor.... my type of folks.) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7600737&type=1

Nice find and I'm pretty impressed. For me, it identified immature female house finch, white-throated sparrow, blue-gray gnatcatcher, brown-headed cowbird and an orchard oriole that was partly obscured by foliage.
