Taken at a rookery here in Dallas. It has indeed been a treat to watch the progression of this nesting area over the last few months.

Thanks for looking... All comments welcome of course.

Love the green lores and the branch hand-off. The relatively dark BG is good and you handled the bright light well. Nice work. I like the framing and how the s-shaped necks enter the frame.

another nice one Steve, that's quite a nice rookery over there.
All around super as Robert noted. For my preference might bring up highlights a bit in levels.
This repost has hottest spot at about 252 in red and below 240 in other channels. I think it adds a bit
of range and brings out the eyes/bills/lores.....
but this was an overall enhancement, could do eyes and parts selectively of course

Like the framing and the S-shaped necks with the feathers standing up - exposure is good - histogram indicates that there is a bit more leeway on the right. I also de-saturated the blues a little - just a matter of taste I suppose. The one thing I don't like about this shot is that I did not take it ;)

Thank you all for your comments. Perhaps it's my un-calibrated monitor, but I'm not seeing a great deal of difference in the edits. The good news for me I suppose is the changes are subtle which means I'm getting a little bit better... This time anyway...

It's very close Steve....just as a learning exercise(for me too), here's a look at the histograms.
Notice in the original that there is room to expand highlights a bit to the right....there is currently
no data there. That is the area where I brought the highlights up a bit.

Good work, hope this shows up for you. I am slowly learning that the little details all add
    up in the end

That's cool Dave.... I can see just the slightest difference in the two images. (Obvious - but small - difference in histograms too). Thanks for going to all that trouble to help me see the light!

Great interaction and breeding plumage. Great discussion here, too bad about the busy BG.
