Roseate Spoonbill
Just got back from a Florida holiday which allowed for a few hours at Fort Desoto - what a place! Only got a glimpse into the park and not in the best season either, but it blew away any location I've ever shot birds in before with the possible exception of Skomer island. Still can't get over the settings I had to use either - completely alien to me
Anyway, here's one from the first evening at the part in the lagoon just off North Beach. Not a spectacular shot by any means but the only spoonie I saw at the park in the short time I was there.
I've posted this one first as I've just re-calibrated my screen and its lowered the brightness significantly, so I'm particularly interested in how you good folks with high end screens view the brightness before I start processing the god knows how many images I shot!
Canon 7d2
500mm f4 is
ISO 400
1/3200th, f6.3
Minimal PP as I don't want to go into too much if my monitor settings appear off
cheers
Mike

Spot on exposure and a perfect HA. Love the raised foot and the falling droplet. Processing looks great to me (I'm not on a carefully calibrated monitor though). Lovely image Mike.

Cracking shot, love the raised foot, The colours and exposure look fine on my monitor, again not a top end one but not cheap either. High on my list of places to visit- mate has a time share which I must take advantage of one day. Know what you mean about alien settings, good light etc.

Very nice with the raised foot and the beautiful colors. I think your shooting angle is perfect, as you placed the transition between the green and blueish BG at the right place. Well done.

This is absolutely beautiful Mike!
Lovely colours, exposure is great too, and the raised foot is really adding dynamics to the image.
You must have had a blast!
TFS!

Brightness looks right on the money on my monitor, Gail. Love the raised leg and your feather details are just amazing! Glad you were able to utilize those lower ISO's while you were here. Many don't realize how fortunate we are.

Thanks everyone, both for the comments and checking the settings I requested - that's a big help.

Cheers Marina, but who's Gail? If you're comparing this to a Gail Bisson shot I'm taking that as a complement!

Hey Mike, A very nice image. The brightness looks good to me also. I also like where the horizontal transition lines of the background are placed. Good timing on the foot placement. Glad you got to see a Spoonbill while you were here.
