I am usually a sucker for landscape crops of flying birds in most instances, I think this is kind of in the "I am not sure which one works better" basket though. Horizontal or vertical.
Great looking bird with loads of detail in the blacks and whites.
Great capture there Gail!
Congrats.
Thanks Akos.
I admit that I have 2 versions of this shot-one horizontal and this one. The vertical just gives more detail to the bird. Will dig out the horizontal and post later.

Nice image Gail, colors, background, exposure and detail spot on. I am with Akos regarding the crop. I think I know why you chose this one because to put the bird in the right place in a landscape would not show it off to it's best. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely details and exposure Gail. Nice BG too. Would love to see the horizontal too.
Lovely shot Gail, nice timing colours and detail, I think I would go for landscape on this one.
Nice skimmer shot; I am also wondering about the horizontal crop. It is well exposed and you had some sweet BG and light that helped having both dark and bright areas nicely visible. TFS and looking forward to see more of these.
