Sitting in the blind when this Texas Tortoise showed up and started eating the red clay/sand around the water hole, presumably for the minerals it needed. Stayed about 3 minutes then rumbled off. It is considered threatened in Texas.

Hi Roy -- That incredible Prehistoric Look !! Loved it ! nice POV and IQ is very good ! I feel a bit more space at both the ends i.e. RHS and LHS is needed looks a bit tight to me from those sides ( provided if u had space ) . Also the Green blotch in the BKG behind the tortoise's back is a bit distracting and also appears to be a bit grainy !! The eye also appears under some shadows compared to the area of its neck , i think a bit of dodging can help ! TFS !

Love that you caught it with the leg up, giving it a sense of movement even though they move slowly. Agree about the green blotch but don't think the "shadow" around the eye is a problem. I see it as giving some slight depth. Great catch.

    Hello Roy,

Lovely tortoise image and the POV really works, cute pose - that raised leg just makes things more interesting:) I like the detail on the shell and the colours overall, had it not been for the greens at the back and the patterns on the shell I would think you took this in the Kalahari:)

I admit the green patch is a tad overwhelming but I can live with it, love the framing and I think the sharpening is just right, very special capture of this threatened species, well captured and presented Roy, TFS

    Kind regards,

I would have loved a little more separation between the head and the foot. It took a few seconds to work out what's what to be honest.
The POV is great, it's sharp and well detailed.
