I was driving to one of the NW Sydney lagoons and noted this European Red Fox hunting in the field of the quarry beside the road. I was able to use a bean bag on the roof of the car to capture a sequence of the fox jumping onto a prey item. It missed.

In an ideal world the fox would've been facing from left to right, but this was an opportunistic shot only.

Sweet action shot, natural history at its best Akos., my suggestion is to have more room on the left if possible.. as I always prefer "off center."
too bad there wasn't more light on its face., the environment is wonderful.

Hi Akos - great timing and love the curled front paws and look of intensity. I agree with Raymond about a bit more room to the left and less to the right but not a deal breaker.

Love the action & timing here Akos, especially from a species one doesn't associate too much with Australia, truth beknown these guys are everywhere and like in most parts of the
world have adapted to urban life very well. Understand a nicer angle would take this over the top, but we take 'em as we grab 'em.
Agree on a less central crop.
Being an ex-Sydney boy, where exactly was this?

    TFS

    Hello Akos,

What a jump from this Fox - very well captured!

May I ask whether you have a sequence from this sighting for Story Sequences forum? Let us say, three to five images? This is so special, I personally would have no problem with adding canvas here on the LHS, just to give this beauty more space to jump into! So lovely- the subject is completely off the ground, outstretched, she sis focused on the prey (wonder what it was, a mouse of some sorts, snake, a bird?)

The breeze helped with movement in the grass which created a nice blur effect - out of curiosity, did you do any NR at all? Wonderful colours and a lovely warmth to the entire scene; I especially like the fur colour. I detect a tiny speck on the face which could be the eye, any chance you might be able to bring that out a little more?

Super capture - really enjoyed looking at this image tonight, Mate

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Well caught,a lovely image - very entertaining. You can't do much about the head angle but apart from that I really like it very much.

Thanks a ton guys for your feedback. I could probably add a little canvas to the front, you can see some of the sequence right here (where I whined about the lack of backwards compatibility of DPP4 LOL)

Gabriela, I don't remember having done any NR. I can check tonight at home.

Marc, this is the quarries at Penrith Lakes, beside Castlereagh Road. I was on my way to Bushells Lagoon in Wilberforce at the time. My rig is always ready, seatbelt wrapped around, sitting in the passenger seat. Otherwise I'd miss too many opportunities.

Hi Akos, nice capture of a not so often seen species. Yes, it would have been nicer to have light on the face of the fox, but this is a very image nevertheless. Loi

Hi Akos -- This is a very beautiful action image !! you have done so well to capture the image with a nice IQ , would agree with the off center framing , it needs some space on the LHS !! TFS
