    Long Tailed Tit
The gathering gloom made it tricky to balance shutter speed and ISO (though I think I could have gone a bit further with ISO) especially as they are pretty skittish little things. The ofreground was a bit 'spiky' wiht all the bushes but the backdrop I feel compliemtns the colours of the bird well.

Cropped about 50% on each axis

Mike I agree the backdrop certainly complements this lovely looking little bird,I very much like pose of the bird and the good detail you have captured, tiny little nit but that light green foliage under the bird does draw my eye a little bit, like this a lot.

    Hi Mike
Good stuff ! Were it mine I would try a landscape crop with some off top and bottom.
    Nice whatever

I like the composition and the setting. I think I may investigate the exposure on the bird to see if could be brightened a little - just a tad -WDYT??

I don't particularly like square crops, a vertical would be my choice. Agree with Jon to try lighten the bird a tit, I mean a bit.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

I agree about the foliage at the front being distracting and I have tried a few processing teicks but none really worked. Well, the one front leaft is easy enough with content-aware tool but the left seems a bit more troublesome.
I am playing with the exposure of the bird and the cropping will do a repost soon - the cropping is a bit more perplexing trying to get the different elements balanced and cropping tighter starts to show limitations of the IQ. I'm getting there...

Mike looking again it's only that light green bit in the bottom left which looks like it could be toned down ,that apart it looks really nice.

Well, your comments have forced me to to be a bit more brave and work till I found a way!

I have changed the crop ration to a more rectangular format, cleaned out the foliage bottom left (in LR, the heal works better than the clone) and lightened the bird a tad (only half a stop but it seems to improve it no end)
