The nuthatch has been one of my target birds for a couple of years now and I came across a pir that had nested in the bole of a tree that had been used by Great Tits last year. I spent a fascinating couple of hours watching and photographing them as they came to the nest to feed the young.
Being in woodland on what was a generally overcast day I was working at ISO 1600 most of the time which is not great for the 7D2 when trying to recover a bit of shadow but there were a couple of brief spells of bright sun that lit the tree trunk.
