where I mentioned that Murphy had end-stage kidney failure.
Anyway, it turns out that the diagnosis is much better and she has years, rather than weeks to live. I noticed she came back up on the list as "available," so she will be coming to stay with us on Tuesday night. Provided she gets along with our other 4 mongrels, we will be "fostering" her long term.
With my day job in question, we may not be able to afford her meds (she does have kidney disease) so with us fostering her rather than adopting her, the rescue will pay for her meds and prescription diet until I get my day job back on track (or my photography job picks up enough). The rescue saves on money because the won't have to board her at a kennel anymore and Murphy (she seems to respond better to Missy according to her handler) will have a warm bed and other doggy siblings to play with.
Basically, we figure she'll be here the rest of her life one way or the other.
Wow this is a real love story for real. So glad Jim that there are people like you in this world with such a caring heart. I love her and I do not even know her Please keep us updated and If I can help. I mean it let me know . she is a asweetie for sure and so are you !!!!!
fantastic news, Jim!! Ted and I adopted a gsd with medical issues and it proved to be a great experience for all of us. WOuld love it if you'd keep us posted on how things are going!
She's settling in just fine. We got the go-ahead from the vet to increase her food by 50% which should help put some meat on her bones. She's a frail 22 pounds at the moment, and we'd like to see 27 or so.
I think by this weekend she'll be comfortable enough for some pictures. I'd like to do a nice canvass of all of them while Sam is still around.
