A few days ago at a local preserve, this SCTA and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak were putting on quite a nice display for me. The only setback was the fairly dense canopy they were flying under. C&C welcome.

Hi Geoffrey, Striking reds, and I like the pose with the open beak. It cant be easy to capture subjects underneath dense foliage. Comp wise, I would maybe take a bit off the left, and move the bird lower in the frame ( as he seems to be looking up )

A stunning bird, very nicely captured. Good detail in the reds, which is tough to achieve with this species. Great singing pose, and the reds are set off nicely by the green bg. Good crop suggestion from Stu -- even though this is FF, you might be able to add a sliver of canvas at the top to move the bird down. Nicely done.

Well done, Geoffrey. My preference would be lower on the frame as well.

A slightly better HA and the suggested crop would really make a stronger image.
It is lovely as it is though.
    TFS.
