was this King penguin thinking ...... well it was more me while thinking about a rock song from the fabulous "The Clash". All happening at the computer while looking /thinking for a title for this posting.

In fact the King penguin was moving along the beach on South Georgia ..... trying to find a spot to get into the water . The waves has been quite high and the ocean was nervous as you can see when looking into the BGK of the image , waves about 1,5 - 2m high at that time .

Very cool. I'm not a fan of selective coloring in images but I gotta say that in this case it works really, really well. Superb wave action - powerful but not overtaking. Everything about this image rocks....the Casbah

    Really visually arresting image.
The pop of orange really grabs my attention and then my eye flows around the image.
    Well done,
    Gail

Hi Andreas - I agree with Daniel and Gail. This just works on all levels. Goes to show we don't always need eye contact. Excellent detail and love the pop of color on the head and the hint of color in the urc also adds to the image. Btw thanks for the ear worm too.

    Rachel

The background says it all... I would have used the caption 'Game On'.

Really enjoyed looking at this one, thank you Andreas.

Thanks folks for your comments , much appreciated . Glad you like it .
Daniel there is no selective coloring in the image , all i did was removing the blues ( 70 % ) and the cyans (30 %) . No extra pushing of the oranges/yellows , this came as a side affect from the contrast pushing . I pushed the contrast a bit further to get the rough look that i felt when taking then shot due to the elements of the location. Was a horrible day from the weather POV .

    Thanks again , Andreas

Very nicely done! The wave also looks like smoke. The yellow really grabs attention and I like the splash on its feet giving the feeling of motion

Are those scars on the back of its left leg?

What an outstanding image. It makes me want to look and keep looking. It makes one think of the shear scale of struggle these birds go through.

Hi Andreas, good detail on the Penquin's back, sharp, and I can hear his thoughts about getting into the surf. Great low angle of capture too.

I feel a wider view would work even better showing more of the wave even at the expense of having a smaller penguin. As it is presented, I was not quite seeing it straight away, it would be easy to confuse the churned up shore breaker as some kind of icy background.
    Really neat idea though IMHO.
